چکیده

The Nature Conservation Society of South Australia (NCSSA) Bushland Condition Monitoring Program and the South Australian Biodiversity Assessment Tool (SABAT) address this shortcoming, and provide an innovative approach to building community capacity in vegetation management. The program allows conservation volunteers, landholders and extension professionals to conduct an effective evaluation of the outcomes of on-ground activities on the condition of remnant vegetation.

Broad-Scale Land Condition Monitoring using Landsat TM and DEM-Derived Data

We describe a project that is monitoring land condition in the south west of Western Australia using Landsat Thematric Mapper satellite images and terrain data derived from digital elevation models (DEMs). Land Monitor is a multi-agency project of the Western Australian Salinity Action Plan supported by the Natural Heritage Trust. The focus of the project is on broad-scale monitoring of land co...

Mapping and monitoring land use and condition change in the South-West of Western Australia using remote sensing and other data

In the south-west of Western Australia, the clearing of land for agricultural production has lead to rising saline ground water, resulting in the loss of previously productive land to salinity; damage to buildings, roads and other infrastructure; the decline in pockets of remnant vegetation and biodiversity; and the reduction in water quality. The region in question comprises some 24 million he...

Investigation of the Effect of Constructing Small Arc Basins System on Vegetation Composition and Biodiversity in Aridland Ecosystems in the East of Iran (Case study: Rangelands of Sarbisheh, South Khorasan Province)

Introduction: One of the ways of restoration and reclamation of damaged rangeland is to use different methods of rain harvesting such as pitting, counter furrowing, flood spreading, small arc basins system and etc., along with the reduction of runoff, it increases the soil moisture content and thus increases vegetation cover. Biodiversity is most commonly used to describe the number of species....

The impact of meteorological drought and grazing on the vegetation structure in aridlands (Case study: Nakhab Forest, Khosf County)

Drought and grazing rangelands play an important role in changing the structure of vegetation and losing the biodiversity of natural ecosystems. In this research, in order to determine the effects of drought and livestock grazing on the vegetation structure of rangelands located in the Nakhab Forest of South Khorasan Province, species abundance, biodiversity, and range condition and trend were ...
